Graham residents are under stage five water restrictions after an electrical issue at the water plant.
It happened Tuesday at 3:00a.m. and caused a loss of water supply to the plant.
There are two pumps for raw water. Service to one smaller pump was restored at 6:00a.m. The other large pump will not be in service until parts damaged in the electrical failure are installed and the pump is tested. They are not sure when the issue will be resolved.
Until the larger pump is operational, raw water supply to the plant will be at 50-percent of recent use levels.
It is anticipated that stage five restrictions may remain in place for several days after the repairs are made in order to replenish reserves for fire protection.
All discretionary use of water I prohibited until further notice. Please turn off all lawn sprinklers, cease outside watering and do not waste water. Please delay clothes and dish washing. The use disposable plates and cups is encouraged.
The bulk water station on the Loving Highway has been closed.
Car washes are requested to curtail operations.
The splash pad at the city pool is closed.
No outside watering is allowed until the stage 5 restrictions are lifted.
