Three people killed in an accident in Archer County Tuesday afternoon.
Richard Weaver was hauling a load, headed to Odessa, Texas when he along with many on U.S. Highway 82 came to a halt.
"I saw an ambulance go by and was hoping the wreck wasn't to awfully bad. I don't know how bad it was," said Weaver.
The accident happened just west of Mankins on U.S. Highway 82 around 12:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.
DPS Trooper Tony Fulton told Newschannel 6, two trucks were heading west when an east bound truck crossed the center line.
It clipped a trailer another truck was pulling, sending the west bound truck spinning. It ended up going head on into the truck that was behind it.
DPS, Archer County deputies and Holiday Fire Department along with cleanup crews were processing the scene.
Many vehicles headed that direction were diverted to nearby highways, but big rigs had to brave the heat and wait.
"I don't have a whole lot of room to turn this rig around," said Weaver.
DPS has released the names of the people who were killed in the accident.
31 year old Brenda Montoya
The driver of the truck headed westbound was 23-year-old Cody Goss and the passenger, 17-year-old Lacy Mulling. Both were residents of Oklahoma.
Adalberto Chapa, 45, of Forth Worth was the driver of the truck heading eastbound.
Police also said a 31-year-old woman was taken by helicopter to United Regional. As of Wednesday morning, she is in critical condition.
