WFPD Preps For Citizen Police Academy

Wichita Falls Police are gearing up for the next Citizens Police Academy.

The WFPD Community Services Section is currently accepting applications for the program.

Our very own Newschannel 6 News Anchor Ashley Fitzwater has gone through this program.

Classes are set to begin in September. The course is 10 to 15 weeks with classes one evening each week for three house per session.

Class members will find themselves on an obstacle course behind the wheel of a police vehicle, firing automatic weapons, witnessing drug dogs in action and suiting up for a "Shoot Don't Shoot" exercise.
