Olive Garden Provides Meals On Labor Day

Olive Garden employees spent Labor Day giving back to emergency responders in the Wichita Falls community. Employees came to work hours before their scheduled in times, to get food prepped and ready to be delivered around the city.

Olive Garden said they will serve 254 different people today. That includes 75 at the hospital, 75 at the police station, and about a dozen people at eight different fire stations in Wichita Falls.

“Well it's important to recognize the people that really play a big part in the emergency services that are provided even on a day where so many people have the day off,” said Sal Ramirez, General Manager at Olive Garden.

The restaurant prepared 140 pounds of spaghetti, 20 gallons of marinara sauce, 80 pounds of salad, and 80 dozen breadsticks. Officials said the food is worth at least of couple thousand dollars. But it's their way of saying a special “thank you” to those emergency responders.

One of the first stops of the day was to the Wichita Falls Police Department. Employees at the department said they were very thankful for the donations.

“What is even better is it gives them the idea that folks out there care about the job they're doing,” said Eric Russell, Captain at the Wichita Falls Police Department.
