Our HomeZone Game of the Week for Week 2 is another county rivalry, this one an Archer County affair between Windthorst and Holliday!
Though it may seem like the teams have been playing each other forever, they've actually only had a consistent, every-year game since 2002. Before that they typically scrimmaged each other yearly, and they had two alignments in the mid-1970s and early 1980s when they were in the same district.
Since the non-district series began Holliday, as the larger school, has had the edge. The Eagles have won all but two of the dozen meetings, with Windthorst getting victories in 2005 and 2006.
Still, seven of Holliday's ten wins in the series have been by two touchdowns or less, so mostly they've been competitive matchups.
This year's game will be at Trojan Field in Windthorst, same as last season because it's a new alignment cycle, and it will kick off Friday night at 7 p.m.
Tune in to Newschannel 6 at 6 and 10 all week to hear from both teams as we get set for the game!
