Grand Jury Makes Decision In Officer Involved Shooting in WF

A Wichita Falls police officer is cleared by a grand jury in connection to a shooting at an apartment complex on Professional Drive.

The Wichita County Grand Jury met on Wednesday and cleared Officer Chad Nelson of his actions involving the shooting that happened on July 3rd.

Police said Officer Nelson responded to a call about a disturbance back in early July.  Authorities said when Officer Nelson arrived, a woman answered the door.  As Officer Nelson moved her out of the way, Roy Phillip Johnston was seen holding a long gun.  He was pointing it in the officer's direction.  Officer Nelson fired his gun, hitting the Johnston once.

Johnston is now indicted on two counts of Aggravated Assault on a police officer.
