The YMCA is announcing youth basketball sign ups. Whether your child is experienced, or new at the sport the Y wants to get them all involved. The program is not only designed to teach them the fundamentals of the sport, but also increase their confidence and give them the joy that playing a sport brings them.
The basketball program is for boys and girls ages 5 to 12. If you have played with the Y before this year, you just have to call you old coach to register. If you're new to the program you can go the Family Y or Downtown Y to register.
There are four different divisions: Instructional for children 5-6, Passers 7-8, Dribblers 9-10, and Shooters 11-12. Practices begin in October, with games starting up the first week of December. Those games are played on Friday nights and all day Saturday.
The league will cost members $35, and non-members $50.
