SAFB Hosts Memorial Service

On Thursday, the Sheppard Air Force Base hosted a memorial service to remember and honor those lost 13 years ago during the attacks of September 11.

Mayors, airmen, fire and police chiefs of many Texoma towns gathered at Sheppard Air Force Base to show their respect.

The service began at 7:40 a.m., which was the same time as other memorials held across the nation.  The flag was held at half staff and was surrounded by the four branches of the military for the remainder of the day.

"I wanted to have a ceremony that if members of the base, because we're very diverse, can't go to New York City at ground zero because they're here in training or they're stationed here that they can come here and have a remembrance ceremony for the families or love ones that they've lost," Seth Moening, Master Sergeant of Sheppard Air Force Base, said.
