Flu Vaccine - KAUZ-TV: Newschannel 6 Now | Wichita Falls, TX

Flu Vaccine

The Centers for Disease Control just released data from last year's flu season. The data showed nearly 60 percent of flu associated hospitalizations reported were for people ages 18 to 64.

They said it's a reminder of how unpredictable and severe influenza can be. The CDC said the best time to get the flu vaccination is before October.

The Community Healthcare Center in Wichita Falls will hold adult flu walk-in clinics. The adult flu clinics are each Thursday in September from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The cost for the flu vaccine is $30. The vaccine offered is designed to protect again four different flu viruses; that's two influenza A viruses and two influenza B viruses.

The flu shots are for adults only. Parents of pediatric patients can contact their healthcare provider. For questions regarding the flu vaccine or clinics you can call (940) 766-6306.
