Brad Dalke Strong in Jr. Ryder Cup

Former Burkburnett resident Brad Dalke represented Team USA in the Junior Ryder Cup Monday in Scotland, earning 1 1/2 of a possible 2 points.

Dalke and Louisiana native Sam Burns teamed up in the morning best-ball foursome event and defeated Europe's Marcus Kinhult and John Axelsen 4&3, meaning they led the match by four holes with three to play.

Then in the afternoon, Dalke teamed up with Californian Bethany Wu to face Europe's Ivan Cantero Gutierrez and Mathilda Cappeliez in a four-ball match. It was a back-and-forth match, with Dalke and Wu leading by as many as three holes early before the European team rallied to tie it on number 13 and then take a 1-up lead one hole later. But Dalke birdied the par-3 15th hole to square the match, and that's how it ended with both sides taking a half point.

Overall, the USA holds a commanding 7.5-4.5 lead through the first day's matches. As the defending champions, the USA needs to win just 4 1/2 points out of Tuesday's dozen individual matches to retain the Junior Ryder Cup, and five wins will take it outright.

Dalke is scheduled to play in the final match of the day, against Max Schmitt of Germany, starting at 4:30 a.m. (CDT).
