Crowell senior running back and linebacker Jared Brown earned Texas Ford Player of the Week honors for Week 5, with six touchdowns in the #1 Wildcats' dominant win over Blum on Saturday in Bryson.
Brown scored three touchdowns on as many receptions from quarterback Mitchell Parsley, a three-time winner of this award himself.
But Brown wasn't done there. He also added two more scores on just three carries in the game which was over at the half. He also added two fumble recoveries on defense, returning one of them for the total six touchdowns.
Crowell was ranked #2 in UIL Division I in the SixManFootball.com computer rankings entering the game against Blum, who was ranked third. But the Wildcats put the game away early, winning 90-24 to vault to the top spot in this week's poll.
Crowell has two of the next three weeks off, with their only game coming October 10th against Calvert, who are currently ranked second in Division II. That game will kick off at 6:30 p.m. on another neutral field in Strawn, Texas. Originally it had been scheduled for Saturday at 6 in May.
