Notre Dame Hosts Award Winning Gardeners

Notre Dame Elementary celebrates award-winning gardening success that conquers obstacles caused by the drought.

Students in Notre Dame's third, fourth, and fifth grade classes participate in an after school Junior Master Gardeners program.  The program was awarded recently awarded first  place in the Medium Association Category for Exemplary Achievement in Search for Excellence Youth/County JMG Programs

The program is designed to teach children about horticultural science, and maintaining the school garden, even with the strict drought restrictions. Though the program's success was in doubt, due to being unable to use the school's drip irrigation system, a grant from the Priddy Foundation made it able for the school to purchase new rainwater harvesting equipment.
