Air Evac Flight Nurse Dies From Injuries Sustained in Crash

Leslie Stewart has died from injuries she sustained in an accident on October 4, 2014. The Air Evac Lifeteam air ambulance, based in Duncan, Oklahoma, was involved in an accident at approximately 1:53 a.m. on Saturday, October 4, while on approach to United Regional Health Care in Wichita Falls, Texas. There were three crew members and one patient on board at the time of the accident. The patient onboard the aircraft perished at the scene.

Daniel Sweeza, vice president of operations for Air Evac Lifeteam, said, "Our thoughts and prayers are with Leslie's family, and everyone involved in this accident. This is a tragic day for us at Air Evac Lifeteam. Our employees are like family, and we are devastated by this loss. Our focus at this time is on providing support for her family and friends, along with the families of our flight paramedic and pilot, who remain hospitalized."

The cause of the accident is unknown, but is under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board, and Air Evac Lifeteam officials are fully assisting.
