Car Washes Face Possible Shut Off

Wichita Falls car washes could soon be banned from using city water after city leaders made changes to the current stage five drought catastrophe plan.

If lake levels are below twenty percent by mid January of next year, car wash owners must be prepared to operate using their own water sources.

This new amendment is legal since the city would not be forcing the car washes to shut down. Car washes would still have the ability to continue to operate, they just wouldn't have the ability to use city water during this critical drought stage.

All members of the council, excluding the mayor, voted in favor of the measure, a measure that's one of the first of its kind in the country to ever be passed.
