Online School Helps Local Hockey Player Fulfill Dreams

Jeff Baum is a Wildcats hockey player, who also happens to be a senior in high school. In order to meet the demands of playing in the NAHL, he attends Grapevine-Colleyville ISD's iUniversity Prep, an online school.

The school is tuition-free and open to all students in Texas, grades five through twelve. Classes are taught by certified teachers. Students have the luxury of learning from anywhere, as long as they have access to a mobile device and an internet connection. This is iUniversity Prep's second year, and the TEA rated it as the highest performing public virtual school in the state. The school's students have made headlines in DFW, as well as San Antonio.

After graduation, Baum hopes to play Division One hockey in college…then on to the NHL.
