Gas Leak Causes Traffic Delays

The puncture of a gas line caused delays in traffic around Brook Street.

The call came around 9:30 a.m. after crews that were drilling holes for street signs in the 600 block of Brook Street accidentally drilled into a eight inch major gas line. The Wichita Falls Police Department and the Wichita Falls Fire Department immediately blocked off traffic within a four block radius due to the wind blowing the gas into the intersection.

Atmos Energy was called onto the scene to fix the leak, fire crews stated that the estimated time of the repair could be several hours.

Areas blocked off included Seymour Highway, Brook Street, 6th Street, and several side streets. Avoid the area as much as possible until the repairs are complete.
