Those looking for help with their taxes this year will find help from the United Way program.
The North Texas Area United Way will again offer free tax filing assistance during the 2015 tax preparation season, but in order to fulfill the needs of this hugely popular program, 150 volunteers will be needed to get the job done.
"We are proud to offer free tax filing in our community again next year. We've been able to help so many area families save thousands of dollars in tax preparation expenses through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program. We prepared 3,135 tax returns during the 2014 tax season, and returned over $4.25 million dollars to our community," said Jennifer New, Director of the VITA & Financial Education at North Texas Area United Way.
Instructor-led training sessions are scheduled for November 6th,13th and 20th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Midwestern State University Dillard College of Business, Computer Lab DB 306 on the 3rd floor.
Other volunteer positions are also available such as asset development specialists, translators and greeters. Volunteers are asked to work a minimum of four hours.
