Wichita Falls, TX – Two businesses relocating to Wichita falls are expected to bring more than 170 jobs.
On Wednesday, Wichita Falls City Councilors approved a resolution that will allow Lone Star Milk Transport and Safety Design USA to relocate their headquarters to Wichita Falls.
Newschannel 6 reached out to Henry Florsheim, President and C.E.O of the Wichita Falls Chamber of Commerce about the news.
"We're grateful that the 4A board and the city council decided to support these two businesses," said Florsheim. "Businesses are still interested in coming here, even with the drought."
Lone Star Milk Transport is currently located south of Windthorst.
“They decided they needed to be in a bigger market to attract employees and make it easier for their team," said Florsheim.
Safety Design USA, a manufacturing company that creates, installs and operates safety devices for oil and gas rigs is based out of Argentina.
“They're going to end up putting their worldwide headquarters right here in Wichita Falls," said Florsheim.
Florsheim said this is a sign that the city can compete and attract new businesses despite the drought.
"We got the workforce, we got a good transportation system here and it's easy for them to do business here," said Florsheim. "These companies are good examples of those that don't have a great need, a huge need for water."
He said the Chamber of Commerce will continue looking for businesses that are the right fit and let the city handle the water situation.
"We can't control the water situation. There are people in the city working on conservation, reuse projects and at some point, it's going to rain more,” said Florsheim. “We can't control it regardless, so we're going to keep working to do what we can bring businesses in and help local ones expand."
The two businesses are expected to relocate to the falls within the next couple of months. Lone Star Milk Transportation will be located on Commerce Street and Safety Design USA will be based on McGregor Street.
