Heart Gallery To Host Annual Event At Wichita Theatre

Wichita Falls, TX - One Texoma organization is hoping to change the lives of children in the foster care system through its annual Heart Gallery event Monday night.

The event will take place at the Wichita Theatre. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and a speaker panel will begin at 6 p.m.

The Heart Gallery of Northwest Texas mission is to help connect waiting children with adoptive parents, by showcasing pictures of kids that need homes, but also to educate people interested in providing a forever home for children who need them most through adoption.

This event is sponsored by the Foster Parents Association and this event has been taking place in Wichita Falls for nearly 10 years.

Event organizers said the event is so important because there are about 5,000 foster care children waiting for a permanent home in the state of Texas.

Keri Goins, Chair of the Heart Gallery of Northwest Texas, said she joined the organization after working in the system and seeing the need. She said if she can help one child through their annual event its worth it.

"It's a pretty scary endeavor to foster and adopt, but once you talk to other foster parents and adoptive parents, you really realize the blessing is really for the family with the children coming into your home,” said Goins.

Goins said she started fostering a year and a half ago. She said adoption is a huge decision and not one made overnight. She believes tonight is a great opportunity for people interested to find out more information about adopting.

A speaker and panel consisting of local parents will give insight on their experience bringing a child into their home.

Following the event the Heart Gallery will place pictures of children up for adoption in businesses all across Texoma. If you are interested in placing a picture of a child in your business. You are asked to call: (940) 886- 8921.
