New Witnesses Push Back Murder Trial

New Witnesses Push Back Murder Trial

The capital murder trial for a man that was set to begin Monday, November 17th has been pushed back.

Lawyers for Jerry Joe Garza were in 78th district court Thursday afternoon.

Lead prosecutor Dobie Kosub confirmed the defense attorneys presented a motion for continuance they filed earlier this week.

Newschannel 6 also learned the reason for the delay was because of new witnesses in the case.

The motion was granted and the case is expected to go to trial on December 1st in Denton County.

Our crews will be in the courtroom when the trial gets underway.
