Teacher Receives Award For Creativity in the Classroom

The Wichita Falls I.S.D. Foundation gave an award for creative teaching to Crockett Elementary School's Lisa Kowalick.

The Dorothy Moser Huffman Award for Creative Teaching is given annually to a 3rd grade teacher, who goes above and beyond in the classroom.

Kowalick said, “It a very big honor. I'm just shocked, thrilled and humbled, because there are lots of great third grade teachers in this district and, to be recognized, is just a highlight of my career."

Dr. Louie Huffman donated money for the award in memory of his wife, who taught for W.F.I.S.D. from 1952 to 1990. She also taught at Crockett Elementary and dedicated her life to teaching third grade.

The award is for $1000, to be used in the winning teacher's classroom.
