(Wichita Falls) - Former Midwestern State University President, Dr. Louis J. Rodriguez, has passed away. Dr. Rodriguez was MSU's President from 1981-2000.
Dr. Rodriguez was also greatly revered for his community involvement. He served on a number of boards and committees, including serving as President for both the Wichita Falls Board of Commerce and Industry and the Wichita Falls Downtown Rotary Club.
MSU lowered flags to half-staff Friday morning in honor of its former President. Dr. Rodriguez, born March 13, 1933, was 81 years old.
The funeral will be held Monday, November 24, at 10th and Broad Church of Christ.
"Louis Rodriguez will be remembered for his great sense of duty and dedication to the office of the president," said current MSU President Dr. Jesse W. Rogers. "I, along with multitudes of collegues, friends, and loved ones, will remember him with great respect and fondness."
