SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. -- U.S. Air Force officials released today the name of an F-16 pilot assigned here who died in an aircraft accident this week in Southwest Asia while supporting Operation Inherent Resolve.

Captain William H. DuBois, 30, of New Castle, Colorado, died Dec. 1 when his F-16 aircraft crashed as it was returning to base. Dubois was assigned to the 77th Fighter Squadron here.  He is survived by his wife.

"Losing Capt. DuBois is sad and tragic," said Col. Stephen F. Jost, 20th Fighter Wing commander.  "Our most sincere condolences go out to his family, friends and squadron members during this difficult time. Capt Dubois was a patriot who was willing to put his life on the line every day in service to his nation. He was a valued Airman, pilot and friend of those he touched here at Team Shaw and who deployed with him.  He will be greatly missed."

Captain William DuBois graduated from the ENJJPT program located at Sheppard Air Force base in 2010.

The cause of this accident is under investigation.

They managed to catch the suspect in the act. Police figured the adult black bear got inside the car by using the driver's side handle, which was damaged.
