Wichita Falls Independent School District board members met Tuesday afternoon to discuss the expansion of three facilities in the district as well as other agenda items.
“This is the first step in getting all of the numbers together what will work, what will not work and what works best for Wichita Falls as a city and a school district as a whole," said Chief Financial Officer for W.F.I.S.D., Cindy Tatum.
One of the facilities the district is looking into for expansion is the Career Technical Education Center.
“A brand new Career Technical Education Center is what the board is looking at that would involve putting all of our Career Tech in one house and expanding on what we offer depending on what the board decides to put in the building," said Tatum.
Other facilities for expansion include Barwise Junior High School and McNiel Junior High School.
“That would just be classroom expansion and if we needed to increase the course, it would be based on the numbers that the architects come up with. This is just step one of a long process in order to start the bond planning processes and get some renderings done of what it will look like," said Tatum
The next step for W.F.I.S.D. is to negotiate the expansion plans with two architectural firms. The district is hoping to have some rough numbers by February to see how much the expansion will cost.
