Robotics Coming to McNiel Junior High

Students who are looking into future careers in engineering and technology will soon have more options at McNiel Junior High.

A generous donation made by the Alcoa Howmet Wichita Falls facility provided building blocks for a robotics team.  Alcoa Howmet representatives Howard McDaris and Michael Kajs presented McNiel's Career Portals teacher Amber Houck with a check for $750 to start the robotics team.

"With the generosity of Alcoa Howmet, a Robotics team will be able to start at our school and students will be able to get  hands on experience building and designing a functional robot", said Houck.

The funds will go to purchase EV3 Core LEGO sets and software that will allow the students to create, design and program a robot.  The students involved in the club will compete using their robotic designs with other students around the area.
