Mustangs Up to 15th in D2SIDA Media Poll

Midwestern State jumped ahead nine spots to No. 15 in the latest Division II Media Poll released Tuesday by the Sports Information Directors of America (D2SIDA).

The Mustangs matched the 1989-90 and 2003-04 squads for the best start in program history through nine games by improving to 8-1 with a 73-70 win over Lubbock Christian Saturday afternoon at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.

MSU is one of four teams from the South Central Region to receive mention in the poll joining No. 3 West Texas A&M while St. Mary's (Texas) and Tarleton State (Texas) are receiving votes.

Emporia State (Kan.) remains the unanimous No. 1 after improving to 7-0 with a road win at Southwest Baptist (Mo.).

Rounding out the Top 10 is Lewis (Ill.), West Texas A&M, Adelphi (N.Y.), Florida Tech, Alaska Anchorage, West Chester (Pa.), Northern State (S.D.), Tampa (Fla.) and Carson-Newman (Tenn.).

Midwestern moved up to second in the South Central Region rankings one spot behind West Texas A&M. The Mustangs are followed by St. Mary's (Texas), Tarleton State (Texas), Colorado State-Pueblo, Regis (Colo.), Colorado-Colorado Springs, Lubbock Christian (Texas), Texas-Permian Basin and Metro State (Colo.).

Mustangs Still Receiving Votes in USA Today Coaches' Poll

Midwestern State continues to receive votes in the latest USA Today Sports Division II Top 25 as released Tuesday afternoon by that Women's Basketball Coaches' Association.

The Mustangs matched the 1989-90 and 2003-04 squads for the best start in program history through nine games by improving to 8-1 with a 73-70 win over Lubbock Christian Saturday afternoon at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.

MSU is one of four teams from the South Central Region to receive mention in the poll joining No. 4 West Texas A&M while Colorado State-Pueblo and Colorado Mesa are also receiving votes.

Emporia State (Kan.) maintained its hold on No. 1 receiving 23 of 29 first-place votes while Lewis (Ill.) (5 first-place votes), Alaska Anchorage (1 first-place vote), West Texas A&M, Pittsburg State (Kan.), Adelphi (N.Y.), Northern State (S.D.), Washburn (Kan.), Limestone (S.C.) and Tampa (Fla.) round out the Top 10.

Midwestern State takes on Southern Nazarene Saturday afternoon in Bethany, Okla. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m.
