On December 29th, around 6 p.m. Officers responded to a residence located in the 1600 block of Hursh.
Family members of Joshua Leija reported that he became upset with them, and pulled out a machete. The victims stated that he pointed the machete at them, yelling for them to get out of the house, and threatened to cut and stab them.
Officers arrived on scene and located the victims standing outside of the residence. When they went inside the residence to locate Leija, they found him hiding under a bed in a back bedroom, and the machete was found under Leija's bed.
Leija was arrested for two counts of Aggravated Assault Family Violence. He was transported to the Wichita County Jail where he is currently still being held.
