Midwestern State senior Shambreka Jones garnered Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors Monday afternoon as released by league officials.
The 6-foot senior from Mesquite continues to be a defensive force for the Mustangs, who claimed a pair of LSC opening wins last week over Texas Woman's and Texas A&M-Commerce.
Jones swatted four shots in both games and played a crucial role in helping MSU score 55 points off of 50 turnovers in the victories.
The Poteet High School product has scored in double figures in each of her last four games including a 12-point effort against TWU before going for 11 points, eight rebounds, four blocks and two steals against Texas A&M-Commerce.
Cameron senior guard Jazzmine Robinson garnered top offensive honors after nothing her second straight double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds in a 59-50 win over Northwestern Oklahoma State Saturday in Lawton.
