Midwestern State is receiving votes in the National Association of Basketball Coaches' and D2 Media polls as released Tuesday afternoon.
The Mustangs won their eighth straight game Saturday night taking the Lone Star Conference opener over Texas A&M-Commerce 61-57 at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
Midwestern, which improved to 12-3 on the season, is one of eight teams in the stacked South Central Region to receive mention in the NABC poll. The region boasts four teams in the Top 10 and six in the first 19.
No. 2 Colorado-Colorado Springs leads the way followed by No. 3 Tarleton State (Texas), No. 9 Colorado Mines, No. 10 Metropolitan State (Colo.), No. 15 St. Edward's (Texas) and No. 19 Angelo State (Texas) while Texas A&M-Commerce is also receiving votes.
Seven teams from the South Central Region received mention in the D2 Media Poll sponsored by the D2 Sports Information Directors of America including No. 2 Colorado-Colorado Springs, No. 5 Tarleton State (Texas), No. 11 Colorado Mines, No. 15 Angelo State (Texas), No. 19 Metropolitan State (Colo.) and No. 25 St. Edward's.
Midwestern State takes on West Texas A&M Wednesday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. Tip off is set for 7:30 p.m.
Midwestern State bumped ahead two spots to No. 13 in the D2 Media Poll sponsored by D2SIDA and is still receiving votes in the latest Women's Basketball Coaches' Association USA Today Sports Top 25. Both polls were released Tuesday afternoon.

The Mustangs' lone loss this season came to Emporia State (Kan.) which tops both polls. The Hornets are the unanimous No. 1 in the D2 Media Poll and receiving 25 of the 30 first-place votes in the WBCA Poll.
