MSU's Carter Earns LSC Honors

Midwestern State's Andrea Carter garnered Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors Monday afternoon when league officials announced weekly accolades.

The senior forward from Angleton dropped in a team-high 17 points and pulled down nine rebounds to help the Mustangs to a 77-64 win over No. 3-ranked West Texas A&M Wednesday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.

It was MSU's first win over a team ranked in the Women's Basketball Coaches' Association Top 10 since joining NCAA Division II in 1997.

Carter knocked down 6-of-9 shots from the field while going 5-of-7 from the charity stripe against the Lady Buffs.

She followed the performance a 15-point, 8-rebound effort in a 26-point win over Eastern New Mexico on Sunday.

Carter averaged 16.0 points and 8.5 rebounds while shooting 61.1 percent from the field for the week.

Texas Woman's sophomore center Erin Maxwell averaged 11 points, 8.5 rebounds and 4.5 blocks per game to earn top defensive honors helping the Pioneers to wins over Texas A&M-Kingsville and Angelo State.

Midwestern State hits the road to take on Tarleton State Wednesday night in Stephenville. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. at Wisdom Gym.
