Ashley Flores and Brittany Adams highlighted Midwestern State's efforts at the season opening Texas Tech Open Saturday at the Athletic Training Center in Lubbock.
Flores, a senior from Haltom City, placed second in the 1-mile run clocking a time of 5:17.14 to finish almost five seconds behind New Mexico State's Diana Hawk, who ran a 5:12.19.
Flores' time was the eighth fastest in program history and is the best January clocking in MSU's three seasons of indoor track.
Adams, a junior from Fort Worth, narrowly missed a personal indoor best 5,000-meter time of 19:16.21 to finish second to Tarleton State's Tylo Farrar, who ran a 19:12.97. Adams ran a 19:16.11 two seasons ago at the Central Oklahoma Invitational.
Junior Maira Salinas placed eighth in the 1-mile run with a time of 5:51.72 while senior Lucia Trejo was 14th with a 6:13.05.
Trejo also finished 18th in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 12:12.02.
Sophomore Maranda Rodriguez placed 25th in the 400-meter dash (1:04.59) while newcomer Briaun Porter clocked a 1:11.99.
