Lawton Murder Trial Begins Monday

UPDATED: Testimony began Monday morning in the murder trial of David Baird, a Lawton man on trial for killing his wife and burying her body under a swimming pool.

The jury hear testimony from the sister of the victim, Claudine Marroquin. Elizabeth Marroquin testified that her sister called her to tell her she was leaving Baird. She said she heard an argument in the background and that her sister told her somebody was going to die that night.  When she went to the house the following morning, Elizabeth Marroquin said no one answered the door.

Police found Claudia Marroquin's body two weeks later, while doing a welfare check.
They were called to David Baird's home for a suspicious odor. The smell led them to Marroquin's body under a small above ground pool. Detectives say a puddle of Marroquin's blood was also found in Baird's carpet.

The trial resumes tomorrow morning
in Comanche County District Court.
