Midwestern State's Andrea Carter garnered Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors for the third time this season as released Monday afternoon by league officials.
The 5-9 senior forward from Angleton notched her seventh double-double of the season Wednesday against Angelo State and followed with a 15-point, 7-rebound effort to go along with a season-high seven steals Saturday at Texas A&M-Kingsville.
Carter finished with 14 points, 14 rebounds, one blocked and one steal while helping the Mustangs limit Rambelles to 41.5-percent shooting in a 69-61 win at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
MSU then held Texas A&M-Kingsville to 39.1-percent shooting from the floor in a 66-53 victory over the Javelinas.
Carter has scored in double figures in each of her last seven games averaging 15.1 points and 8.6 rebounds a game during the stretch while shooting 58.8 percent from the field.
She needs six rebounds to move past Serena Carter (939 rebounds from 1989-93) into second place on MSU's all-time rebounding list.
West Texas A&M sophomore guard Sasha Watson earned Offensive honors after she averaged 13 points and 6.7 assists per game while helping the Lady Buffs to three wins last week including a 19-point effort in WT's 87-86 overtime win at Tarleton State.
