Lisa Hampton named LSC Offensive Player of the Week

Midwestern State's Lisa Hampton garnered Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors Monday afternoon when league officials released weekly award winners.

The 5-10 senior from Kennedale poured in a game-high 21 points while leading the Mustangs to a 79-70 win over Cameron Saturday at Aggie Gymnasium to snap CU's five-game winning streak.

Hampton also matched a career high banging in five 3-pointers -- all in the first half -- while going 6-of-8 from the field including a 5-of-7 performance from beyond the arc while going 4-for-4 from the charity stripe.

She connected on three consecutive triples seven minutes into the first half to ignite a 10-0 run allowing MSU to claim momentum.

Hampton needs three treys to become MSU's all-time leader in made 3-pointers and move past current holder Andrea Buben, who hit 132 3s from 2006-10.

Texas A&M-Commerce's Ashlee Johnson had seven steals in wins over Texas Woman's and Tarleton State while finishing with 11 points, eight rebounds and seven assists in Saturday's victory over the TexAnns to earn top defensive honors.

Midwestern State takes on Tarleton State Wednesday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
