Chipotle Has A New Home in Wichita Falls

A popular Mexican restaurant has a new home in Wichita Falls.

From excitement, to love and food, it's these things are what brought a lot of people to the grand opening of Chipotle.

Jamie Hancock and Scott Otto were many of the dedicated customers in attendance.

“I found out about it (Chipotle opening) last May and every month since then I've been trying to figure out where it's going, when it's opening.  I just got out of bed to come here," said Hancock.

“I had it in different towns before and it's probably my favorite Mexican restaurant of all time," said Otto.

Chipotle is located across the street from Sikes Senter Mall on the corner of Wayne Street and Midwestern Parkway.

“It seems like an ideal area.  We're not far from Midwestern State University and we're right across from the mall," said Area Manager, Jim Austin.

Seeing that the location of Chipotle is in a busy area, Newschannel 6 reached out to the Traffic Superintendent for Wichita Falls, Mark Beauchamp.

“As always when we have a new business coming into town, we always monitor the situation and see what happens.  It will obviously have an impact on the traffic, so we'll keep an eye on things," said Beauchamp.

Beauchamp and the rest of the traffic staff plan to put out traffic counters in the area, but that won't be done until a few weeks after things calm down at Chipotle.

Location however, won't stop customers like Hancock.

“The parking lot is kind of inconvenient because you have your one entrance and you have to go all of the way down and come back, but past that I could do without.  But for chipotle I'll do it," said Hancock.

Area Manager Austin is expecting anywhere from 700 to 800 people to come in on Wednesday to dine in at Chipotle.

Now that Chipotle is officially open, it will be open seven days a week from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
