Rider's Boone Signs with Bethany College Golf

Rider senior golfer Kristin Boone signed a letter of intent Thursday afternoon to play collegiate golf at Bethany College, a small NAIA school in central Kansas.

Boone earned All-District 5-4A honors as a junior for the 2013-14 season, in which she won the Fossil Ridge Invitational and also earned a second-place finish at the Byron Nelson Golf Invitational. She also earned another runner-up finish her sophomore year at the Richardson High Invitational.

Boone said she originally got started in golf after being diagnosed with Perthes Disease in her hip, which prevented her from playing other sports.

"It motivates me a lot," she said Thursday. "I never thought, when I found out I had got Perthes, that this would happen. It's made it challenging at some parts, but I've learned to get around with it."

Boone has also been an active member of the Rider HS Marching Band.
