Car Chase Leads to the Arrest of Two

Wichita Falls Police were led on a car chase that landed two people in jail.

On February 8th, around 11:30 p.m., WFPD Patrol Officers located a confirmed stolen vehicle traveling on Brook Street.

Officers were able to catch up to the vehicle on Harrison between 10th and 11th Streets where they tried to conduct a traffic stop by activating their overhead lights.  The vehicle accelerated and ran the stop sign at 11th and Harrison and would not stop.

A brief pursuit ensued through parts of the Country Club Area and MSU. The driver then turned onto Eureka Circle, jumped a curb, and bailed out on foot.  Other responding officers chased the suspect and were able to take him into custody.

The driver was identified as James Preston Howell Jr.  Howell was arrested for Theft under $1,500.00 with two or more convictions, Evading Arrest in a vehicle, Evading Arrest on foot, Possession of Marijuana under 2 oz., and a Parole Violation Warrant.

A passenger in the vehicle was identified as Monica Auld.  Auld was arrested for a Violation of Probation Possession Controlled Substance Warrant and two fresh counts of Possession of a Dangerous Drug.

Both are currently being held in the Wichita County Jail.
