Burglary Suspect Arrested

On Monday evening, around 3:30 p.m., WFPD Officers were dispatched to a residential burglar alarm in the 2000 block of Irving Place.

When officers arrived at the scene, they located a broken window on the rear of the residence.  While checking the exterior, officers heard someone talking inside and saw someone look out a window.

The home owner was contacted and advised that no one was supposed to be there.  A perimeter was established surrounding the house. WFPD K-9 and SWAT arrived on the scene, gathered information, and made entry.

While searching the house, 23-year-old Kevin Scott Newell was found hiding in the attic.  Newell tried to run, but was apprehended.

Newell was arrested for Burglary of a Habitation and Evading Arrest/Detention.  He is currently being held in the Wichita County Jail.
