Man Arrested After Receiving Marijuana in the Mail

Lorenzo Antonio Mendoza has been arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana Over 4 oz. Under 5 lbs., in a Drug-Free Zone.

According to the affidavit, two packages addressed to the 1200 block of Bandera were intercepted from Fed Ex. The packages contained two pounds of marijuana. Investigators from the Wichita County District Attorney's Office, Drug Enforcement Division, made a controlled delivery of the packages containing the marijuana.

The packages containing the marijuana were left on the front porch. A relative of Mendoza came to the residence and placed the packages inside Mendoza's home. The relative, Andrea Robles, was detained and after being warned of her rights had told police that her cousin Mendoza had called and asked her to put the packages inside the house, and that she knew the packages contained marijuana.

Mendoza arrived at the house and was detained. Mendoza was read his Miranda Rights, Mendoza then advised that the marijuana was his and that he gets the marijuana sent to him from California.

During the execution of a search warrant, more marijuana was located, weighing approximately one pound. Also in the house were items of drug paraphernalia, including bongs to smoke the marijuana.

The residence is located within 1,000 feet of Lamar Elementary School, making it a Drug-Free Zone.
