Midwestern State dropped six spots to No. 17 in the latest D2 Media Poll released Tuesday afternoon by the D2 Sports Information Directors of America.
The Mustangs also fell out of the NABC Coaches Poll but continued to receive votes.
The Mustangs split a pair of Lone Star Conference games last week falling to Tarleton State at home before rallying to defeat Texas A&M-Commerce Saturday in overtime to move to 18-5 on the season.
MSU remains one of six teams from the South Central Region to receive mention in the D2 Media Poll joining No. 4 Angelo State (Texas), No. 13 Metropolitan State (Colo.), No. 14 Tarleton State (Texas), No. 15 Colorado Mines and No. 17 Colorado-Colorado Springs.
Florida Southern regained the top ranking in the poll after Lincoln Memorial (Tenn.) became the last to fall from the unbeaten last week with a loss to Carson-Newman (Tenn.).
The Moccasins picked up nine of the 16 first-place votes, while Augustana (S.D.) (5 first-place votes), Bellarmine (Ky.), Angelo State (1 first-place vote) and Lincoln Memorial (1 first-place vote) rounded out the first five.
The South Central Region boasts five of the top 17 teams in the NABC Division II rankings with Angelo State at No. 4, Metropolitan State at No. 10, Tarleton State at No. 11, Colorado-Colorado Springs at No. 15 and Colorado Mines at No. 17.
Florida Southern (15 first-place votes) took over the No. 1 position, while Augustana (1 first-place vote), Bellarmine, Angelo State and Lincoln Memorial fill out the top five.
Midwestern State takes on West Texas A&M Wednesday night in Canyon before returning to the dome to take on Eastern New Mexico on Saturday. Tipoff on Wednesday is set for 7:30 p.m. while Saturday's start time is slated for 6 p.m.
