MSU's Vinson, City View's Taylor Make All-Tournament

Midwestern State junior outfielder Katelyn Vinson garnered National Fast-pitch Coaches' Association Leadoff Classic all-tournament honors Thursday afternoon.

Vinson  hit .389 with three homers and five RBIs while leading the Mustangs to a 3-3 showing at the NFCA Leadoff Classic last weekend in Tucson,Ariz.

The Southlake Carroll High product launched her first home run of the season Sunday afternoon against 13th-ranked Missouri-St. Louis before connecting on consecutive homers in an 11-4 victory over No. 4-ranked Southeastern Oklahoma State later in the afternoon.

Vinson collected hits in five of six games over the weekend while drawing six walks for a .542 on-base percentage.

Midwestern State competes in West Texas A&M's Woodward Invitational Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Canyon. The Mustangs open tournament play Friday with games against Metropolitan State (Colo.) and Chadron State (Neb.) at 1:30 and 3:30 p.m., respectively.

Former City View HS star Lacey Taylor of West Texas A&M was also named to the same all-tournament team Thursday, after hitting .571 over five games in Arizona.
