SAFB Holds Change of Command Ceremony

The 80th Flying Training Wing Vice Commander, Colonel Gregory Keeton, took command of the 80th Flying Training Wing in an official ceremony Friday morning.

Col. Keeton replaced Colonel Lance Bunch in a change of command ceremony officiated by 19th Air Force commander, Major General Michael Keltz.

Col. Keeton, assigned to Sheppard AFB last year, was promoted from his position as Vice-Commander of the 80th Flying Training Wing to Commander of the 80th Flying Training Wing.  

Col. Bunch, completing a two-year assignment as the commander of the 80th Flying Training Wing and Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training (ENJJPT) program, will depart for duties at Central Command Headquarters at MacDill AFB, Florida.

Colonel Keeton received his commission from the United States Air Force Academy in 1994. Following pilot training at Sheppard AFB, he served as an F-15C pilot at Eglin AFB, Florida and RAF Lakenheath, United Kingdom as well as instructing Introduction to Fighter Fundamentals at Randolph AFB, Texas and Laughlin AFB, Texas. 

Keeton obtained Master's degrees in Joint Campaign Planning & Strategy as well as National Security Strategy from the Joint Advanced Warfighting School and the National War College. Colonel Keeton also completed staff tours at Joint Forces Command and the Office of Secretary of Defense. 

Colonel Keeton is a Command Pilot with more than 2,300 flying hours in the F-15C, AT-38B/C and T-6. His operational experience includes Operations NORTHERN WATCH and SOUTHERN WATCH.
