Suspect Arrested for Assault on a Peace Officer

On Wednesday morning, around 11 a.m., a patrol officer with the Wichita Falls Police Department observed a white 2014 Dodge 1500 pickup parked at a local car wash in the area of Ridgeway and Iowa Park Rd.

The officer recognized the vehicle as a possible stolen vehicle that was reported out of Vernon, Texas.  When the officer approached the vehicle, he found that it was occupied by one white male, who was later identified as 27-year-old Marvin Sharp.  After a records check, the vehicle was confirmed to be stolen.

As the officer was attempting to arrest Sharp, Sharp began to fight with the officer. The officer received minor scratches to his face.  

Sharp managed to get away and began to flee south on foot.  After back-up officers arrived on scene they were able to locate Sharp near the area of Falls and Jacqueline and take him into custody without incident.

The vehicle was valued at approximately $31,000.00.  During a search of the vehicle Officers located .5 grams of methamphetamine.

Sharp was charged with Assault on a Peace Officer, Resisting Arrest, Evading, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Theft over $20,000.00
