Indoor Track: Mack Earns LSC All-Academic Honors

Midwestern State's Cara Mack was named to the Lone Star Conference Indoor Track & Field All-Academic Team for the third straight year Thursday when league officials announced annual awards.

The senior mathematics major from Llano boasts a 3.97 grade-point average. She has landed on numerous all-academic during her stellar collegiate career.

Mack earned LSC Cross Country Runner of the Year honors in 2012 and earned LSC All-Academic Team accolades in both indoor and outdoor track in 2013 and 2014. She was also a two-time all-academic performer in cross country.

Mack was named an MSU Hardin Scholar last spring and is a two-time United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association Division II All-Academic honoree.

She posted personal best times in the indoor mile (5:32.64) and 3,000-meter run (11:02.01) this season.

To be eligible for LSC academic honors, student-athletes must carry at least a 3.30 grade-point average and have reached sophomore status both athletically and academically.

Tennis: Matches vs Metro St. Moved to March

Midwestern State's scheduled matches with Metropolitan State (Colo.) Friday afternoon in Albuquerque have been postponed due to poor traveling conditions in the Denver area.

The matches are rescheduled for Friday, March 13 at the MSU Tennis Center in Wichita Falls. Start time for the women's and men's contests are to be announced.

The Mustangs still play Colorado Mesa and Western New Mexico Saturday in Albuquerque starting a 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., respectively.

Softball: LSC-Opening Series Moved Back

Midwestern State's Lone Star Conference opening series with Eastern New Mexico bumped back to Sunday and Monday due to inclement weather and cold playing conditions.

The teams, who were originally set to play Friday and Saturday, will now play doubleheaders on Sunday and Monday at Mustangs Park.

The twin bill on Sunday is scheduled for 3 and 5 p.m. and the teams will also play a two-game set on Monday beginning at 1 and 3 p.m.
