Man Arrested With Gun At Narcotics Meeting

Police have released the name of a man who police say showed up with a gun to Something New, a narcotics anonymous meeting, Sunday night. Leonard Victor Neel has been charged with Possession of a Prohibited Weapon.

Wichita Falls police say it happened at the corner of Avenue J and Grant.

A witness told our crews on the scene, that they were in the middle of the meeting when the man walked in.

Officers say one person was able to walk out, and wave down a patrol car passing by.

Once inside, police say Neel gave up his gun and was arrested.

Neel is also listed as a  suspect in an earlier criminal mischief [shooting] that occurred at the same location.

Sometime between 8:15 p.m. on February 27th  and 11:45 a.m. February 28th, the business was hit multiple times causing approximately $1,000 in damage. This offense is still under investigation and additional charges are pending.

Neel was only arrested for the counts of prohibited weapons and not the felon in possession.
