Serious Crash involving Graham Youth Group in Palo Pinto County

UPDATE: 43-year old Graham resident, Jessica Lee Harris was pronounced dead at the scene of the head on collision.

A Youth Group from Graham, Texas, the Faith Center Youth Group, was involved in a crash in Palo Pinto county. According to officials, the crash was on Highway 337 a mile and a half north of Highway 180.

From the Mineral Wells Index: A head-on crash late Friday afternoon involving a van and a vehicle on State Highway 337 at Turkey Creek has left at least one person dead and as many as five others injured, some critically.

According to reports at the grim scene, the van – said to be from a Graham church – had five occupants and was on its top, while the vehicle involved had one passenger and was engulfed in flames.

Four helicopters were called to the scene, all lifting off and headed to Fort Worth hospitals with victims transports from the scene a short distance south on SH 337 to a field used as a staging area for the helicopters.

Pct. 5 Justice of the Peace Bobby Hart confirmed at least one fatality.

Fire, rescue and EMS units from Mineral Wells, Graford and Possum Kingdom Lake responded, as well as Mineral Wells police, the Texas Department of Public Safety and Texas Parks and Wildlife, along with the Palo Pinto County Fire Marshal's Office.

The wreck occurred around 5:30 p.m. Law enforcement eventually closed SH 337 to traffic at U.S. Highway 180.

A ministerial crisis response team also responded, with First Baptist Church of Mineral Wells Pastor Nathan Buchanan arriving and being escorted to the crash site.
