The United Way is offering free income tax preparation with the General Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program (VITA) for those that qualify. Free tax preparation appointments are available for individuals and families that have a household income of $60,000 or less.
If you make an appointment, you will need to bring a Driver's License or State ID, and Social Security cards for everyone that will be listed on the tax return. You will also need: your income information, Social Security income, W-2, 1099- R, interest statements, dividend statement, stocks and bonds, unemployment, self-employment income. You will also need insurance verification, and direct deposit routing information.
The United Way VITA program is located at 3308 Kemp Blvd Ste. B, at the corner of Hampstead, next to Sherwin Williams and the Democratic Party Office.
The next two weeks VITA will be open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 1:30 pm – 5pm and Tuesday, Thursday from 1:30 – 7pm. Clients can schedule their appointments by calling 2-1-1 or 1-877-541-7905 and select option one. You can also come in as a walk-in, however walk-in clients will have a short waiting period.
