Midwestern State announced that Doctor Suzanne Shipley is the sole candidate to take over as the University President. Doctor Shipley is the current President Shepard University. The decision to make Dr. Shipley the final presidential candidate was made by the MSU Board of Regents at 5:50 p.m. in the board room of the Harding building.
"I move that Doctor Suzanne Shipley as the sole finalist for the position of the President of Midwestern State University," said Mike Bernhardt Vice Chair of the MSU Board of Regents.
Chairmen Shawen Hessing said the selection to make Doctor Shipley the first female President of Midwestern State University was not in any way gender based.
"She is a sitting president of a COPLAC university, of which we are a member. She understands the liberal arts message and mission and not the least of which she is a native Texan," said Hessing.
There were three key things that Hessing cited would make the University better under Dr. Shipley. Hessing cited growth, retention and graduation rate.
Dr. Shipley will be named as the official MSU President 21 days from now on March 30th, 2015.
