Student Charged for Putting Battery in Apple

Wichita Falls police say a 17-year-old boy is arrested at Rider High School for what happened to an apple on the teacher's desk.

Police say Kaden Deming was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon, and then charged with Tampering with a Consumer Product, a second degree felony.

According to the arrest affidavit, Deming admitted to cutting the bottom of an alkaline battery and then shoving the sharp end cap up into an apple that was on a teacher's desk.

The apple was later given to a student, because the teacher typically gives apples to students if they are hungry.

Police say another student ate half of the apple and realized something was inside it.

Deming was arrested and taken to the Wichita County Jail, but has since bonded out.
