Nearly 30 pounds of Marijuana Seized in Traffic Stop

On Saturday March 14, around 5:52 p.m., Deputy Justin Mitchell made a traffic stop on U.S. 287 at the Clay County Line.  Deputy Chris Barnett and his K-9 Partner Abel were requested to respond.  

Upon their arrival, Deputy Abel conducted an open air search around the vehicle.  Deputy Abel indicated a positive alert for the presence of narcotics in the vehicle.  29.4 pounds of marijuana was found in the vehicle.  52-year-old Jaime Hammond was placed under arrest.  He was transported to the Wichita County Detention Center and was charged with Possession of Marijuana over five pounds, under fifty pounds.

Hammond's bond is $75,000.
